How We Live Our Values

My knowledge and understanding of equity has
reshaped my perceptions and actions in every
aspect of my life. Applying an equity lens has
influenced the values I instill in my children and
how I engage with family members and members
of my community.

How We Live Our Values

I think about how practices, policy and
procedures affects everyone and if there is a
known disadvantage that adjustments and/or
modifications can be made and still be in
compliance.

"A Rx for health: produce!"

The Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services Inc. (NEON) clinic in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland is piloting an innovative way to get fruits and vegetables into the hands of people living with hypertension. One challenge has been encouraging people living with hypertension to establish the daily practices that can keep them healthy, including what they eat. This program, funded in part by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, offers ongoing education for patients to self-manage their condition, as well as vouchers to be redeemed at local farmers markets for produce. Read the success story to learn more about how the NEON clinic established a farmers’ market at its clinic so that all patients can reap the benefits of locally grown food.
